The iphone 16 series has been sold in Vietnam since September 2024, more than a year ago. After the launch of the 17 series, the iphone 16 pro/Pro Max models were discontinued by the company and are no longer publicly listed on the official website. Meanwhile, the two basic models, the 16 and 16 Plus, continue to be sold.
On the shelves of authorized dealers in Vietnam, used Pro/Pro Max devices are still available. However, their prices have unexpectedly increased compared to before. This is unusual, as phones typically depreciate over time. On the other hand, the line has a successor, making the model obsolete.
Specifically, the iphone 16 pro max with 256GB of default storage is currently listed by retailers at 33 million VND, a decrease of 2 million VND compared to its initial launch price in Vietnam. Compared to its lowest point in mid-2025, the product has increased by 2-3 million VND. On e-commerce platforms, during double-day promotional campaigns, the aforementioned model is also sold at 29-31 million VND. There was a time in 2025 when the iPhone 16 Pro Max on Shopee and TikTok Shops was priced at 27-28 million VND.

A similar situation is occurring with the iPhone 16 Pro, which is currently being sold by retailers for 27 million VND, an increase of about 2 million VND compared to a few months ago. Meanwhile, e-commerce platforms no longer sell this product.
According to domestic distributors, retailers are no longer under pressure to meet sales targets for the two aforementioned devices. Therefore, there is not much difference in price between dealers. Previously, these systems had to compete to clear inventory and increase activation rates in order to receive new stock.
In addition, the import price of iPhones has also increased due to exchange rate fluctuations. Most electronic goods are traded in USD. Therefore, changes in exchange rates are usually directly reflected in the price consumers have to pay.
On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max is not under pressure from its successor. The newly launched 17 Pro/Pro Max has a higher list price, ranging from 3 to 5 million VND more. Therefore, older iPhones are still retaining their value.
Conversely, the newly launched iPhone Air has seen a significant price drop. In September 2025, the model had a listed price of 32 million VND. Although it didn’t sell out in Vietnam like the Pro/Pro Max models, the device maintained stable sales during the initial launch period. The retail price remained at 31-32 million VND until November 2025. Smaller retailers mainly reduced prices by 500,000-1 million VND for less popular color options.
However, recently, the device has seen significant price reductions on e-commerce platforms. Specifically, a Shopee shop that independently sells Apple products was at one point selling the aforementioned product for 23 million VND for the 256GB version. This represents a reduction of nearly 9 million VND in just 4 months since its launch.
